Earlier this year, there was an auction in the United Kingdom.
One of the auctioned items was a British penny with an amazing story.
The small coin was once owned by John Trickett.
He was a soldier in the British Army.
He fought in World War I from 1914 to 1918.
During the war, Trickett battled against the German army in Europe.
One day, a German soldier shot him in the chest.
Then, a miracle happened.
Trickett had a penny in his breast pocket.
The German soldier's bullet hit this penny and bounced away.
The bullet then hit Trickett in the ear.
Because of this, Trickett became deaf, but he was still alive.
After the war, Trickett returned home and got married.
He kept the penny as a souvenir of his miraculous experience.
He then passed away in 1962.
Recently,, Trickett's granddaughter put the coin up for auction.
That is when the rest of the world learned of this incredible story.
