Eco-friendly Straws

Plastic straws are convenient, but they are also very bad for the environment.

Many people do not like to use them.

Some countries have even banned their use.

Fortunately, there are now alternatives to plastic straws.

They are called eco-friendly straws because they do not harm the environment.

Some Korean companies make eco-friendly straws, too.

One company makes straws from used coffee grounds.

This material is easy to get because cafes produce a lot of it.

Also, the straws decompose within one year.

Another company makes straws out of cornstarch.

Like coffee grounds, cornstarch is biodegradable.

Furthermore, the straws look and feel like plastic straws.

Finally, there are straws made from rice and tapioca powder.

These straws work very well, and they decompose within 100 days, as well.

Believe it or not, rice straws are also edible.

After you finish your drink,you can eat your straw as a snack.

For fun, some people even cooked the straws and ate them like noodles.
