Limiting Junk Food Ads

The British government recently made a bold announcement.

It said that it is planning to ban TV advertisements for junk food before 9 p.m.

Now, many people wonder whether the government is making the right decision.

Some people argue that junk food ads need to be banned because they are extremely influential.

People watch the ads and are more likely to consume unhealthy foods and drinks.

Then, these people will have a greater risk of becoming sick and obese.

Furthermore, many of these advertisements are made especially for children.

They are shown during the TV programs that are very popular with kids.

If these ads are banned, children will watch fewer ads promoting unhealthy foods and drinks.

However, others argue that junk food advertisements are not as influential as some people think.

They don't actually encourage adults or children to eat unhealthily.

As a result, the ban will not have much of an effect on junk food consumption.

Finally, companies that make junk food worry that the ban will hurt their businesses.

Their customers will not learn about their new products quickly.

Then, the companies may not sell enough to make a profit.
