The government recently released a report on the health of Koreans in 2018.
It found that Koreans are eating fewer foods that are good for their body, including vegetables.
This is contributing to a rise in the obesity rate and an increasing number of health problems.
The report was compiled by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC).
According to the organization, Korean adults are consuming 248 grams of vegetables per day.
By comparison, doctors recommend that adults eat at least 400 grams of vegetables and fruits every day.
Meanwhile, the average daily intake of meat has risen sharply.
Korean adults eat 129,8 grams of meat per day, which is almost twice as much as 20 years ago.
Their intake of fat has also increased by about 20 percent in that same period.
Doctors say that it is important for people to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables on a regular basis.
Some vegetables naturally help to rid the body of excess sodium and raise calcium level.
Perhaps partially due to a lack of vegetables, a higher percentage of Korean adults are suffering from health problems.
The KCDC report found higher rates of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity than 20 years ago.
In particular, the obesity rate of Korean adult males has risen sharply.
Currently, 42.8 percent of Korean men are obese, an increase of 1.7 times since 1998.
