BTS is the most popular K-pop group on the globe.

But in Korea, they do not only sell out albums and concerts.

They also have an impact on the economy.

In June, BTS held major events for their fans.

In total, four fan meetings took place in Seoul and Busan, and 100,000 Korean and foreign fans showed up to see their favorite band.

Later, economists analyzed these four fan meetings.

They found that the events greatly helped the economy of Seoul and Busan.

For example, the fans spent a great deal of money for food, lodging, and souvenirs.

On top of that, several companies spent a lot of money in the cities to put together the events.

These fan meetings added a total of 481 billion won in economic growth to the cities.

The economists say this result is not surprising because the boy band is having a huge economic effect all over Korea.

Some people are even calling this trend the "BTS economy."

For instance, the K-pop group helps sell various products, including clothes and cosmetics.

Also, BTS helps local tourism because 800,000 of their fans visit Korea every year.

"No other K-pop group has affected Korea in such a manner," one economist said.
