Stamps Celebrate Air Force Anniversary

The Republic of Korea Air Force is celebrating the 70th anniversary of its founding this year.

To mark the occasion, a special stamp was released to the public on September 20.

The stamp shows an F-35A jet fighter and its pilot.

In the background are the Black Eagles, the aerobatics team of the ROK Air Force.

They are shown drawing the taeguek mark in the sky.

The ROK Air Force was founded on October 1, 1949.

At that time, it was comprised of 1,600 soldiers and 20 planes.

Now, the Air Force has 65,000 soldiers and about 700 planes.

A total of 688,000 stamps went on sale at post offices around the nation.
