### Anthony Browne

 

Anthony Browne is a British writer and illustrator.

He writes and draws beautiful children's books.

When Browne was young, he loved to draw.

He drew many pictures with his father.

Later, Browne studied art in college.

At first, he wanted to be a painter.

Then, in 1976, he published his first children's book.

After that, he kept making more books.

In total, Browne published about 40 children's books.

His illustrations are amazing.

Eeah page is like a small painting.

Also, his stories are funny and magical.

Now, Browne is one of the top children's authors in the world.

### Birthday for Monuments

 

Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower are world-famous monuments.

This year, these monuments celebrated special birthday.

So, how old these monuments?

Let's find out.

• Big Ben

Big Ben is a clock tower in London, the United Kingdom.

It's important symbol of the country.

The clock tower is part of a government building.

It also has a great, big bell inside.

The bell rings every hour.

In July, Big Ben celebrated its 160th birthday.

It started telling time in 1859.

• The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is a well-known symbol of Paris, France.

About 7 million people visited the tower in 2018.

This year, the Eiffel Tower marked its 130th birthday.

It was first made for the Paris World's Fair in 1889.

At first, many Parisians did not like the tower.

But now, they are proud of it.

### Baby Hawk and Mother Eagle

 

The eagle is a fierce bird.

It has a large beak. It flies fast in the sky.

It even eats other birds. But one eagle in California  is very unusual.

It raises a baby hawk in its nest.

The eagle gives worms to the baby hawk.

It is like the hawk's mother.

This is almost impossible in nature.

So, people were really surprised.

"It's beautiful to see," one person said.

### Pea Shooter Contest

 

In England, there is a funny shooting contest in July.

Surprisingly, the bullet is a pea!

Also, the gun is like a straw.

People put a pea in the straw.

They aim it at a target.

They blow into the straw hard.

Then, the pea shoots out of the straw.

Sometimes, it hits the target.

Other times, it misses the target.

But the contest is still fun!

### Flyboard Inventor

 

Franky Zapata is a French inventor.

In 2012, he invented the Flyboard.

The Flyboard has a board.

Also, there are nozzles under the board.

People stand on the Flyboard.

They turn on the nozzles.

Then, they can fly around.

Zapata made two kinds of Flyboard.

One is water-powered and the other is jet-powered.

In August, Zapata rode the jet-powered Flyboard.

He flew from France to the United Kingdom.

He crossed the English Channel
