How safe is Seoul?
According to a recent list, the capital city of Korea has become safer and more secure.
This list was compiled by the the Economist Intelligence Unit, a research institute based on in the United Kingdom.
The institute regularly ranks 60 cities around the world for their safety level.
These cities are evaluated in various categories, such as digital access, public health, infrastructure, and personal safety.
On this year's safety index, Seoul scored 87.4 points out of the possible 100 points.
With the score, the Korean capital was ranked the eighth safest city in the world, tying with Copenhagen, Denmark.
Seoul's latest ranking is an increase of six spots form last year, when it ranked 14th.
This time around, the city received an especially high score in the public health category.
Also, like other safe cities, Seoul got high marks for its cyber security and the quality of its police department.
Overall, many cities in the Asia-Pacific region were judged to be among the safest in the world.
Tokyo topped the list for the third year in a row.
The Japanese capital was followed closely by another Asian city, Singapore, as well as Sydney, Australia.
But at the same time, the region was home to many of the lowest-ranking cities, which include Yangon in Myanmar and Karachi in Pakistan.
Economists say these results show the wide wealth and safety gap that exists among Asian countries.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong dropped to 20th place after ranking in the top 10 the previous year.
This was a reflection of the violent protests that have recently taken over the once secure city.
