"저희 아버지가 지금 일을 그만두고 다른 직종으로 전환한다고 하신지 이제 거의 2년이 되어가요.  지금 위치까지 오시기 위해 공을 많이 들인 것은 사실이에요, 그래서 큰 결정이고 위험부담이 없는 것도 아니에요.  게다가 어머니가 자꾸 그런 얘기를 하세요, 그 것이 우리한테 미칠 영향도 생각하셔야 된다고요.  물론 그것도 중요하죠.  근데 아버지가 우리를 위해서 평생 희생해야 된다고 누가 그래요?  (아니,) 가족을 먹여 살려야 하는 책임이 있긴 하지만, 지금까지 이미 충분히 하셨고 이제는 위험하더라도 다른 것을 해볼 자격이 있으시다고 생각해요. 그리고 비록 일이 잘 풀리지 않을 수도 있어도 가족이 그것을 지지할 준비가 돼 있어야 해요.

우리가 최소한 그 정도는 해드려야 한다고 봐요."

 

For almost 2 years now, my father has been talking about leaving his job and pursuing a different career. It's true, he has put in a lot of effort to get to where he is now. So it's a huge decision and it's certainly not without its risks. And my mother keeps saying that he needs to think about how it could affect us. And sure that's important, too. But then, who says that we deserve his endless sacrifice? I mean, as much as he's responsible for providing for the family, I think he has done more than enough all these years, and he deserves to take a chance at something different. And even though things might not go well, the rest of the family should be willing to support that. I think that's the least we can do.

It's true, he has put in a lot of effort (in order) to get to where he is now.

• put in a lot of effort  노력을 기울이다 / 공을 드리다

• to get to 도달하기위해서 

 

그래서 큰 결정이고 위험부담이 없는 것도 아니에요. 

So it's a huge decision and it's certainly not without its risks.

• it's not without its risks 위험부담이 없는것은 아니다. - 없는것이 아니다. 나름대로 어떤것이 있다

 

게다가 어머니가 자꾸 그런 얘기를 하세요, 그 것이 우리한테 미칠 영향도 생각하셔야 된다고요. 물론 그것도 중요하죠.

• 온니  동사이므로 have an affect on ....사용할수없다.

• 대신 have an + positive / negative + effect on .... 긍정적인 / 부정적인 영향을 끼치다.

 

 

근데 아버지가 우리를 위해서 평생 희생해야 된다고 누가 그래요?

• deserve + @  ~을 받을 만하다 / ~을 해야 마땅하다.

• deserve + to + V

         I deserve to take a little break.

 

(아니,) 가족을 먹여 살려야 하는 책임이 있긴 하지만, 지금까지 이미 충분히 하셨고 이제는 위험하더라도 다른 것을 해볼 자격이 있으시다고 생각해요.

I mean, as much as he's responsible for providing for the family, I think he has done more than enough all these years, and he deserves to take a chance at something different.

• as much as 를 although 와 비슷한 개념으로 생각할 수 있습니다

 

• be responsible for ~ 에 책임이 있다

• someone did / has done more than enough 필요이상으로했다 / 충분히 했다

• all these years 오래전서부터 현재까지 오랬동안

• take a chance at something   어떤것을 위해서 위험을 무릅쓰고 시도를 해보다

 

그리고 비록 일이 잘 풀리지 않을 수도 있어도 가족이 그것을 지지할 준비가 돼 있어야 해요.

And even though things might not go well, the rest of the family should be willing to support that.

• should be willing to do something  ~ 할 의지가 있어야 한다 / 그런것이 정상이다.

 

우리가 최소한 그 정도는 해드려야 한다고 봐요.

I think that's the least we can do.
