GPS in School Uniforms

In late 2018, some schools in China introduced "smart" uniforms for their students.

The uniforms have GPS chips inside them.

With these chips, teachers and parents can monitor the students location at any time.

School officials and some parents are in favor of GPS chips inside uniforms.

With the GPS chips, adults can always know where the students are and whether they are safe.

This way, teachers and parents worry less about these children.

Some students also find the uniforms to be useful.

They use the GPS chips when they need to know their location and tell others about it.

Also, they never get lost even when they do not have their smartphones.

However, other students do not want GPS chips inside their uniforms.

They say that the uniforms are a violation of their privacy.

Parents and teachers will use the chips to check up on them, they say.

Some adults agree with these students.

They say children need to be independent and make mistakes.

This is an important part of growing up.

However, the children cannot do this if their parents are always keeping an eye on them.
