티스토리 뷰
Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton are some of the world's top luxury brands.
Products bearing these names are coveted by people around the world.
These days, however, some high school students in Korea are purchasing these high-priced items.
According to news reports, it has become a trend for Korean high schoolers to own luxury-brand goods.
They usually buy items that can be easily carried or worn, such as t-shirt under their uniforms.
For the most part, teens who are following this trend have just one or two items.
Others, however, purchase a multitude of goods, including shoes, wallets, bags, and more.
Clothes or accessories worn by a famous musician or celebrity are especially coveted by some teenagers.
Of course, luxury-brand goods are known for their exorbitant prices.
Even a simple t-shirt can cost over 100,000 won.
Some shoes or bags come with a price tag of 700,000 won or more.
Most students don't have the economic means to take part in this expansive fashion trend.
So, some of them put the financial burden on their parents or get a part-time job, just to be able to buy an accessory.
These high schoolers who wear luxury brands say that the high cost of the products is worth it.
They say that owning these products joy and happiness, which is important to them.
However, psychologists say that the trend is more about social competition than about pleasing oneself.
Indeed, many of these teens seem more interested in uploading videos and photos of their luxury-brand goods on social media than in actually wearing the goods.
