For several months, the coronavirus called COVID-19 has shaken up the world.

Outside of China, Korea has been one of the countries that have struggled against this viral outbreak the most.

Many Koreans have banded together to help the country overcome this dire situation.

Here are some of the ways that the nation's citizens have stepped up during the crisis.

@ Calling All Doctors

The city of Daegu has been hardest hit by the coronavirus.

It has dealt with a shortage of doctors and medical facilities while having to treat thousands of infected patients.

So, doctors and nurses from other parts of Korea came to the aid of the ailing city.

They temporarily shut down their private clinics in order to treat patients in Daegu.

By early March, over 500 medical professionals had volunteered to help, with many more on the way.

@ For a Good Cause

Various companies are donating hundreds of millions of won to buy masks and medical supplies.

The chairman of Daum Kakao made the news when he announced that he and his company would donate 4 billion won to the cause.

Celebrities are also opening their wallets to help the victims.

IU, Hyun Bin, Lee Min-ho, Wendy, Irene of Red Velvet, and many others have each donated 100 million won or more.

@ Corona Now

Some students have even gotten into the act.

Two middle school students in Daegu launched a website named Corona Now.

It provides up-to-date news and statistics regarding the coronavirus outbreak.

Reportedly, it helped to share important information during the crisis in the city.

The website also generated money from its online ads.

With the profits, the students said they would purchase masks to donate to local groups.
