# 무슨 뜻이야? 

= What do you mean by that?

= I don't get your point.

 

I'm calling to make a reservation at seven.

> How many in your party, sir

Do you have a room for six?

> It makes no difference whether you book or not.

What do you mean?

> You'll be admitted on a first-come first-served basis.

 

  • I'm calling to ~ 나는 ~ 하려고 전화드렸습니다.  I'm calling to ask you a favor.  I’m calling to say I sent my payment a week ago.

  • make no difference   차이가 없다, 문제가 아니다  It makes no difference whether you are a boy or a girl.  Oh, it don't make no difference no more.

  • be admitted  ~에 입장하다  Members will be admitted on presentation of a membership card.

  • admit  

  1.  She admits to being strict with her children.  Don’t be afraid to admit to your mistakes. It was a stupid thing to do, I admit.

동사 (무엇이 사실임을 마지못해) 인정[시인]하다 (=confess)

  1.  She admitted to having stolen the car.   He refused to admit to the other charges.  She admitted having driven the car without insurance.

@ on a daily / monthly / annual / etc  basis   얼마나 자주 빈번하게 일어나는지 말하기 위해   on a regular basis  정기적으로 = regularly

  • The president of the construction company drops into the construction sites on a pretty irregular basis.

  • We'll calculate the interest on an monthly basis.

  • There are going to be updated on an annual basis.
