어떤 상황에서 뭔가가 좀 이상하게 느껴질 때, 그런데 뭐가 이상한지는 딱 모를 때, 바로 이런 경우엔

to seem off

 

Is that lady you were just talking to from US?

> I think so, Why?

Her English accent seemed kind of off to me.

> Where do you think she's from?

It almost sounded like she had a German accent.

> Maybe she's from Germany.

 

많은 분들이  seem 때문에 보이는 것에만 쓸 수 있다고 생각할 수 있지만 보이는 것, 느껴지는 것, 들리는 것 모두 사용 가능

 

Frank seemed kind of off body.

> Something seemed off about his accent.

 

비슷한 표현으로 bizarre 가 있음 이건 '아주 이상하다' '놀랄 정도로 이상하다'는 느낌이 있음 

• bizarre - bɪˈzɑː(r)  기이한, 특이한 (=weird)   a bizarre situation/incident/story ,  bizarre behavior

 

He was doing a bizarre dancing in the middle of the street.

My boss's new hair cut looks really bizarre.
