### Strange Fruits

 

Fruits come in different shapes and flavors.

Sometimes they can look and taste very strange.

• Buddha's Hand

This fruit is usually grown in China.

Some parts of the fruit look like Buddha's fingers.

This fruit does not have much juice.

But it is very fragrant.

People use it in desserts and medicine.

• Black Sapote

People in Central and South America grow this fruit.

It is a type of persimmon.

But the taste is very different.

When the fruit ripens, it turns black.

It also tastes like chocolate.

So, the fruit is sometimes called "chocolate pudding."

• Horned Melon

This fruit is found in Africa.

Little horns cover its orange skin.

The inside looks like lime-green jelly.

It contains many seeds.

This fruit has an interesting flavor.

It tastes like lime, cucumber, and banana.

### Oprah Winfrey

 

Oprah Winfrey is a global celebrity.

She's a famous talk-show host and businesswoman.

In 1954, Oprah was born in a small town in the United Stated.

She came from a poor family.

She was raised on a farm.

At 19, Oprah began her career as a news anchor.

Later, she became a talk-show host.

In 1985, she launched "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

It became the highest-rated talk show in TV history.

Oprah also became a powerful businesswoman.

She owns a magazine and a television network.

Oprah is one of the most influential woman in the world.

Her life story inspires many young people.

Oprah does a lot of charity work.

She even built a school in South Africa.

It provides free education to poor girls.

Oprah is famous for her book club.

She loves to read and talk about books.

She also introduces interesting books to her fans.

### Water Taxi in Paris

 

The Seine River is in Paris.

It is a big river.

Now, people ride boats on the river.

But soon, they will take water taxis.

The water taxis look like spaceships.

They run above the water.

They are very fast.

Also, the water taxis use electricity.

So, they don't make pollution.

They are also very quite.

Recently, Paris tested the water taxis.

Soon, people will take them around Paris.

### Rack-paper-scissors Contest

 

Rock-paper-scissors is a common game.

People play it throughout the world.

The rule is the same everywhere.

Rock crushes scissors.

Paper covers rock.

Scissors cut paper.

People usually play the game with friends and family.

But there are big contests, too.

In September, the European Rock-paper-scissors Championship took place.

For three hours, hundreds of people played the game.

Finally, one person was the winner.

This person won 1,000 euros!

### Sheep Lawnmowers

 

There is a park in London.

The grass is  beautiful and clean.

The park did not use lawnmowers.

Instead, it used sheep!

Park rangers released five sheep.

For one week, these sheep grazed at the park.

They kept it clean.

Sheep are good for the park.

They are more natural than lawnmowers.

Also, visitors enjoyed watching them.

"We will bring the sheep back soon," one park ranger said.
