One Plus One Packaging Banned

In recent years, the government has made many laws to reduce plastic wastes.

Now, it is taking on the popular "One plus one" promotional deals.

"One plus one" is a common marketing strategy in Korea.

However, these "buy one, get one free" offers result in two separate products being taped or wrapped together.

So in effect, the products are being packaged twice.

To prevent this, the government recently created a new law.

Large stores and retailers will no longer be allowed to use extra packaging material during their "One Plus One" promotional events.

The law will go into effect on July 1.
