First Shakespeare Book to Be Sold

The earliest known collection of William Shakespeare's works is up for auction in London, England.

Published in 1623, the book is titled "Comedies, Histories, and Tragedies."

The 400-year-old collection preserves some of the playwright's most famous writings.

It includes 18 of his plays, such as "Macbeth," "The Twelfth Night," and "Julius Caesar."

The collection was put together by several of Shakespeare's friends, seven years after his death in 1616.

Otherwise, these works might have disappeared over time.

The book is expected to fetch over 6 million dollars at the auction, which will take place in New York City in April.

Many literature experts regard William Shakespeare as the best English writer ever.

Students in literature classes around the world read his beloved works, such as "Romeo and Juliet" and "Hamlet."
