A.I. Program Compete in Drone Racing

The Drone Racing League (DRL) is a series of competitions held throughout the world.

Drone pilots wear special VR goggles and stay on the ground.

They then control their drones through an obstacle course.

In December 2019, on DRL tournament included a special race.

For the first time, human pilots were pitted against drones controlled by A.I. programs.

In the early rounds, the automated drones competed against on another.

Then, in a bonus round, people joined the race.

Surprisingly, a human pilot won the race easily.

The bonus race was exciting but did not last long.

The pilot who beat the computers flew his drone through the course in just six seconds.

However, drone technology is advancing at a rapid speed.

DRL representatives say A.I. drones will most likely win future competitions.

In fact, some predict it will happen as soon as 2023.
