U.S. City Bans Snowball Fights

Having snowball fights is one of the great pleasures  of a cold winter.

However, if you visit the American city of Wausau, don't get caught with a snowball in your hand.

Wausau is situated in the state of Wisconsin in the northern part of the United States.

Due to its location, the city sees a lot of snowfall every winter.

Believe it or not, snowball fights are banned in Wausau.

Its city officials say the ban is in the interest of public safety.

They say hard snowballs could injure people or damage public property.

Besides Wausau, very few U.S. cities have restrictions regarding snowball fights.

One town, Severance, was convinced to lift its 100-year-old ban in 2018.

So far, however, the city officials of Wausau have made no moves to do the same.
