On May 28, people in different countries celebrate their love of hamburgers.

Some people eat one at their favorite burger restaurant.

Others have a barbecue outside.

 

@ Who Invented the Hamburger?

Many people believe Otto Krause invented hamburgers.

He was a cook from Hamburg, Germany.

One day in 1881, he fried a hamburg steak in butter.

Then, he added an egg and put them all in a bun.

Later, German sailors brought the idea to the United States.

Nowadays, there are many different kinds of hamburgers.

They can be really big or really tiny.

Also, not all hamburgers are made with meat.

There are vegetarian burgers made with only vegetables.
