On January 25, Koreans will celebrate the Lunar New Year.

The day marks the beginning of the year on the lunar calendar.

This Lunar New Year, Koreans will enjoy four days of rest.

Many Korean families will return to their hometown.

They will perform traditional ceremonies and visit their ancestors' graves.

Children will perform a bow, called "sebae," to their elders.

Also, everyone will eat tteokguk, or rice cake soup.

The lunar calendar is based on the Chinese zodiac, which has 12 animal signs.

This year is the Year of the Rat, which is the first the animal signs.

Because of this, the Rat Year is considered to be special.

Traditionally, Asians believe rats to be clever and courageous.

So, people born in the Year of the Rat have many positive traits, too.

For example, they are believed to be bright and active.

They are also social and very loyal to friends and family.
