People often have a cold in fall and winter.

In fact, you probably know someone who has a cough, a runny nose, or a fever right now.

Luckily, there are simple things you can do to avoid getting sick.

@ Wash Your Hands

When you touch someone or something, germs move onto your hands.

Then, these germs can spread to the rest of your body.

So, wash your hands often with soap.

It is an effective way to get rid of germs.

 

@ Use a Humidifier

The air gets very dry during fall and winter.

This can also dry out your nose.

Your nose must be moist to trap germs and keep them out of your body.

Therefore, use a humidifier to add moisture to the air as well as your nose.

 

@ Get Plenty of Sleep

A strong immune system can protect you from illnesses.

But when you feel fatigue, your immune system gets weakened.

So, remember to get eight hours of "shut eye" each night.

With enough sleep, your immune system will be able to do its job.
