On April 4, a KTX train departed a few minutes late from a station in Gwangju.

This small delay, however, helped to save a life.

Earlier that day, a heart was removed from an organ donor in the southern city of Gwangju.

It had to be delivered immediately to a patient in Incheon.

Normally, this urgent process is done by helicopter, but strong winds made it impossible to fly.

The doctors decided to transport the organ by train, but they could not get to the train station on time.

So, the doctors called the station officials.

They asked that the departure of the train be delayed by 10 minutes.

The officials and passengers gladly accepted the late departure, and the doctors were able to get on the train.

After the organ arrived in Incheon, the heart transplant was performed on schedule.

The operation was a success, and the patient is now recovering well.
