Diwali, also known as the "festival of lights," is one of the biggest religious events in India.

The festival symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness and good over evil.

For five days, the followers of the Hindu religion celebrate Diwali by lighting candles and lamps.

Homes and entire cities sparkle with thousands of lights at night.

This year's festival was especially meaningful in Ayodhya.

Located in northern India, the city is rich in Hindu history and tradition.

On October 26, more than 6,000 volunteers gathered near Sarayu River in Ayodhya.

They lit 409,000 oil lamps on the banks of the river.

The entire area was illuminated by the small, sparkling lights.

It was a beautiful sight to behold.

Furthermore, these volunteers also set a Guinness World Record.

It turned out to be the most oil lamps lit at one time.
