NASA is the space agency of the United States.

Recently, it built a new Mars rover.

But this new rover needed a name.

So, NASA held a naming contest for students.

Around 28,000 students sent in their ideas.

They wrote essays, too.

Finally, NASA chose the rover's name.

A middle student made it.

Now, the rover's name is Perseverance.

Also, its nickname is Percy.

Percy will launch in July.

It will land on Mars in February 2021.
