For many of us, the highlight of the holiday season is gift-giving.

Throughout December, people prepare presents to give, and then on Christmas Day, they exchange them with one anther.

Some of these gifts are item that the person asked for in advance.

Others, however, are a complete surprise to the receiver.

Some people love to be surprised by their gifts on Christmas Day.

They say that it is more fun when the present is a total mystery.

They spend many hours trying to guess what is inside the box.

Then, they enjoy the excitement of unwrapping the gift and finding something unexpected.

Also, these people say that they end up appreciating surprise gifts more.

That's because the giver of the gift has put a lot of thought and care into choosing it.

So, they can feel the love of their family and friends.

Others, however, say they prefer to tell people what gifts they want.

They feel it is more practical because they can get the things that they really needed or desired.

Then, they are sure to be satisfied with their Christmas present every time.

Furthermore, some givers of presents are happy to be told what to buy.

They say it saves them many unnecessary hours struggling to come up with a good gift idea.

Also, they never have to worry about disappointing the person with the wrong choice.

Then, the receiver will not have to exchange it for something that they really want.
