A new hospital ship recently began its medical mission in the Amazon rain-forest.

The Brazilian ship is equipped with smart technology developed together with Korea.

The ship is the product of a four-year, 1.8 billion-won project by the Korean government.

Korean engineers and medical experts transformed an old Brazilian boat into a modern medical vessel.

With the ship, Brazilian medical teams are able to travel on the Amazon River and stop at remote villages.

They can provide advanced medical care to about 100 indigenous people per day.

This is about 10 times more patients than before.

With the successful launch of the new hospital ship, the Brazilian government said it planned to work with Korea to build more vessels in the future.

About 300,000 indigenous people belonging to 400 different tribes currently live in the Amazon rain-forest.

Most don't have access to proper medical care.
