What do you think will happen 50 or 100 years from now?

In the past, the year 2020 seemed very far away.

So, people imagined many wondrous things to happen by then.

The strangest predictions came from about 100 years ago.

Some scientists thought that humans would physically change.

They said we would lose some of our toes because we would not need them anymore.

Many people in the past believed there would be great technological advances by 2020.

One writer in the 1960s predicted that houses would be able to fly.

That way, people could move their house to anywhere they wished.

Others said that every family would have a personal robot servant.

Furthermore, people in the past were very optimistic about space travel.

Even 30 years ago, many assumed that humans would land on Mars by 2020.

In reality, it will probably take many more years before this happens.

On the other hand, some of the technological predictions about 2020 came true.

For instance, people imagined smart watches, tablet PCs, and even cloud computing.

These are all already a part of our lives.
