#. Amazing Animals

 

Every animal has special talents.

Some are really smelly or very big.

Others are extremely fast.

Let's learn about three animals with amazing talents.

This mammal lives in Australia.

Sometimes it gives off a bad smell.

This bad smell helps protect the Tasmanian devil from enemies.

Many people think its smell is worse than a skunk!

This bird lives in Africa.

It is one of the biggest birds on Earth.

The shoebill is usually 110 to 140 centimeters tall.

But its wingspan is more impressive.

It can reach 260 centimeters!

Its huge wings help it fly.

This fish lives in the ocean.

It is a great swimmer.

In fact, the sailfish is the fastest fish in the world!

It can swim up to 110 kilometers per hour.

This can help them catch prey quickly.

#. Elephant Toothpaste

 

Do you know elephant toothpaste?

It is not toothpaste for the big animals.

It is actually a science experiment.

The experiment is simple.

But it can get very messy.

So, children should do it with their parents or teachers.

First, you should get a plastic bottle.

Put a little hydrogen peroxide into it.

Add a small amount of dish soap and food coloring.

Next, mix some dry yeast with a small amount of warm water.

Finally, put the dry yeast into the bottle.

But watch out!

There will be a big chemical reaction.

You will see why the experiment is called elephant toothpaste.

#. Origami Art

 

Origami is a kind of art.

You fold paper to make beautiful object.

Robert J.Lang is an origami artist.

He is also a scientist.

So, Lang uses math and engineering for origami.

Then, he makes beautiful paper objects.

His paper objects are colorful and amazing.

They look very real.

Recently, Lang held an art show.

In the show, there were many origami objects.

For example, he made an elephant, a flog, and a cactus.

#. Grandpa's School Bus

 

Doug Hayes lives in the United States.

He is 60-year old grandfather.

He has 10 grandchildren.

Five grand-kids are in elementary school.

This year, two more grand-kids will start school.

So, Hayes bought a school bus!

It's small and yellow.

Now, he will take his grandchildren to school.

He will also pick them up.

"We love the school bus," his grand-kids said.

"And we love our grandpa, too."

#. Korean Seaweed

 

Dried seaweed is called gim in Korean.

Many Koreans eat a lot of it.

These days, dried seaweed is popular abroad.

People like to eat it as a snack.

So, Korea exports it to different countries.

Last year, Korea exported a lot of dried seaweed.

It made 580 million dollars!

This was the most ever.

China import much of Korea's seaweed.

The United States, Russia, and Germany buy the seaweed, too.
