1.  ~하려고 했어

was going to  ~하려고 했으나 하진 않은 것을 말할 때!

 

I’m going to have dinner with my family.

 

I was going to start studying.

나 공부하려고 했단 말이야

 

A: You could’ve told me. Why didn't you?  말해줄수 있었는데 왜 안 했어?

B: I was going to say that. 말하려고 했었어/ 안했지만

 

A: You could’ve bought her a gift. Why you didn’t?
B: I was going to buy her a gift. But I just forgot it. 사주려고 했는데 깜빡했네 / 안사줌

 

I was going to buy you dinner.

I was going to treat you.

I was going to pay for dinner.

 

What were you going to do? 너 뭐하려고 했어?

What were you going to say? 뭐 말하려고 했어?

 

2. 그게 그것이야

That’s what 리액션 할 때 정말 쓰기 좋은 패턴

 

That’s what it is. 내 말이 그말이야/ 바로 그거야

That’s what I want.

That’s what I mean.

That’s what I say.

 

A: It’s freezing cold outside.

B: That’s what I say.

 

A: He is good looking. isn’t he?

B: That’s what I mean.

 

That’s not what I mean. 그게 아니고 / 내 말은 그게 아니라

 

A: So, you want to break up with me?

B: That’s not what I mean. We just need to talk.

 

That’s what I was going to say. 내가 말하려고 했던게 그거야.

 

3. ~ 하려던 참이다

be about to  ~ 하려던 참이다 / 시작은 안 했으나 막 시작하려는 것

 

Run! Hurry up! The train is about to leave.

The movie is about to begin.

I'm about to go out.

Your hard work is about to be rewarded.너의 노력들이 이제 막 보상 받을 참이다

 

4. 감탄, 얼마나 그런지

How + 형용사  : 감탄의 표현을 할때 사용

 

How amazing 얼마나 놀라운지

How awesome 얼마나 짱인지

How hard 얼마나 어려운지 / 어렵다

How expensive 얼마나 비싼지 / 비싸다

How fantastic  얼마나 멋진지 / 멋지다

  • is it? 얼마나 멋지나요?

 

5. ~알아요?

Do you know + how / what / who / why / when / where ~ ? 

 

How hard is it?  

Do you know how hard it is

 

A: You want to learn Chinese? Do you know how hard it is?

B: I don’t know how hard it is. How hard is it?

 

Do you know how expensive diapers are? * diaper 기저귀

Do you know who I’m? 내가 누군지 아니?

I don’t know who you’re.

Do you know what it is? 이게 뭔지 알아?

 

6. ~하러 왔어요

I’m here ~하러 오다 /  내가 여기 온 이유를 말해준다 = The reason that I came here.

 

I’m here to check in.

 

A: May I help you?

B: I’m here to check in. I booked a room under the name of Young.

 

A: What’s up?
B: I’m not here to fight. I’m here to apologize to you?

 

A: What are you doing here?

B: I’m just here to pick you up. So, get in the car.

 

7. 일부러 그런거 아니야

didn’t mean   

 

I didn’t mean it / to. 일부러 그런거 아니야

I didn’t mean to hurt you 

I didn’t mean to hit you.

 

A: You meant it! / You mean it! 너 일부러 그랬지?  / 너 의도한거지?

B: No! I didn’t mean to.

 

*mean  v. 의미하다 a. 못된

I didn’t mean to be mean. 못되게 굴려던 건 아니었어 / 일부러 그런거 아니야

I didn’t mean to offend you.  *offend 기분상하게 하다

 

8. ~할시간이다

It’s time 

 

It’s time to say goodbye.

It’s time for dinner.

It’s time for a break.

It’s time to go.

It’s time to clean up.

It’s time to finish our class.

It’s time to move on. 이제 다시 나아갈 때야 / 이젠 잊을 때가 됐어

*move on 어려움을 겪고 나아가다
