Special Days in May 본문
#. Special Days in May
Every May, Koreans celebrate two special days for families.
One is Children's Day.
The other is Parents' Day.
Let's learn about them!
Ban Jeong-hwan created Children's Day in 1923.
He believed children should be loved and respected.
That way, they could grow up to be good people.
In 1975, Children's Day became an official holiday.
On May 5, children receive gifts from their family.
They usually go to fun places, too.
Unfortunately, it will be hard to go anywhere this year.
But children will still have a wonderful time with their family.
In Korea, showing respect to your parents is very important.
So, people started celebrating Mother's Day in 1930.
Later, this day changed into Parents' Day in 1973.
Parents' Day is celebrated every May 8.
On this day, children give their parents red carnations.
They also write their parents a thank-you letter.
