More International Students in Korea

These days, many foreigners are becoming interested in Korea.

Because of this, more international students are coming to Korea, as well.

According to the Ministry of Education, 142,200 international students enrolled in Korean universities in 2018.

The number will probably reach over 160,000 this year.

In 2014, there were 84,800 foreign students.

That means in four years, the number rose by over 67 percent.

In 2018, the students came to Korea from 181 different countries.

About 68,000 students were from China, 27,000 students came from Vietnam.

International students choose Korea for various reasons.

They seek out Korea after becoming interested in Korean music, movies, and TV shows.

They also hope their Koran university degrees will help their careers.

Some foreign students will find work in Korea, while others will look for jobs back home.

Especially in Southeast Asia, Korean companies have many branch offices.

Meanwhile, Korean universities welcome the increasing number of international students.

By 2023, they hope to accept over 200,000 students from abroad.
