티스토리 뷰
Australian newspapers surprised readers on October 21.
The front pages of the newspapers carried many articles as usual.
However, all the text in the articles were covered with black lines.
Also, the word "secret" in red was stamped over the articles.
The newspapers were protesting government censorship.
Recently, Australian reporters received important documents from the government.
Much of the text was redacted, or covered over in black, just like the newspaper's front pages.
Government do this to keep information secret form the public.
However, newspapers say this makes it impossible to report the news accurately.
The secretive documents were not the only problem.
In 2018, the police raided some newspaper offices to look for the identities of anonymous sources.
The Australian newspapers say they are being censored by their own government.
So, they showed their anger with their front pages on October 21.
