America schoolteacher Josh Lanik expected to relax during his summer vacation in July.

However, he ended up with an incredibly valuable prize, as well.

Lanik and his family were vacationing at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas, the United States.

Every summer, rain unearths dozens of diamonds there, and park officials find many of them.

However, the park also has a "finders, keepers" policy.

Any visitor who discovers a diamond is allowed to keep it.

In fact, such discoveries happen on occasion there.

People have found 75,000 diamonds at the park since 1906.

Lanik was one of these lucky people to find a diamond.

A shiny, chocolate-colored stone caught his eye, so he picked it up.

Surprisingly, it turned out to be a 2.2-carat diamond, the biggest one found at the park this year.
