티스토리 뷰
Every year, thousands of Americans attend the Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby in Chicago, Illinois.
For about 5 dollars, participants can buy a cute rubber duck with a number on it.
Then, they watch it float down the Chicago River in a race against other rubber ducks.
This August, dump trucks dropped 63,133 rubber ducks into the river for the event.
Officials in boats made sure the bright-yellow bath toys stayed on course toward the finish line.
In the end, people won prized if their rubber ducks crossed the finish line first.
The prizes included new cars, event tickets, and vacation packages.
Proceed raised by the race went to the Special Olympics, a sports organization for people with disabilities.
Last year, the derby raised 425,000 dollars for the organization.
In this way, the lighthearted event is also quite meaningful.
