Building Theme Parks

In the near future, we may use several major theme parks opening in Korea.

Various cities and provinces have been in talks with representatives of such global companies as Universal Studios, Disney, and Lego.

Together, they hope to launch domestic versions of world-famous amusement parks in different parts of the nation.

However, there is continuing debate as to whether such theme parks would be a wise investment.

On the one hand, regional government officials feel certain that these projects will be profitable.

As exciting new theme park is sure to attract visitors from Korea and the rest of Asia to the region.

This would boost the economy of the city or province that decides to host the theme park.

On the other hand, there are those who are skeptical of the value of the projects.

They say that too many cities and provinces are seeking to build theme parks at the same time.

If they were all to open, they would end up competing with one another for the same pool of potential visitors.

Because of this, all these parks may end up losing money, with no one winning.

But most of all, the skeptics say that cities and provinces would have to spend an immense amount of money to establish these famous theme parks.

It would be difficult to bring in enough visitors to pay for these investments and make the parks financially successful for the regions.

Meanwhile, regional government officials admit that the initial financial investment to build theme parks, as well as to purchase the local rights to a famous brand, is no small change.

However, they believe that using brand names that people recognize will help to bring in a greater number of visitors.

In the end, this will make the theme parks worth their investment.
