(참조) call it a day란 표현은 전기가 없던 시절에 쓰이던 표현입니다. 전기가 없던 시절이다 보니 하루의 일과는 해 뜨면 시작이고 해지면 끝입니다. 그래서 해 질 무렵 "오늘 여기까지 합시다"는 "오늘 하루의 일과가 끝"이다는 의미이므로 call it a day "그것을 하루라 부르자"란 의미가 "오늘은 여기까지 합시다"란 의미로 사용된 것입니다.
