a train wreck : 어떤 것이 엄청나게 잘못되어서 큰 실패나 불행으로 이어지는 것을 의미

We're never going to meet our deadline.

> I know! This project is a complete train wreck.

I know. No one's working very hard and the research isn't even done.

> We better go tell the boss that we're not gonna have it finished in time.

Yeah. Let's ask for an extension because if we hand it in as is, probably gonna get fired.

> Yeah, you're right. Let's go to the boss now.

cringe-worthy : 오글거릴 만한  : 어떤것이 너무 별로여서 사람들이 민망하거나 불편하게 만들 때 사용하는 표현

cringe : 오글거린다.

What did you think of Maria's presentation at the staff meeting yesterday?

> It was horrible! She didn't prepare at all! It was cringe-worthy.

Yeah. But you know the funny thing? After the staff meeting, I was talking to Maria and she was really proud of herself.

She thought she did an amazing job.

> That's even worse. She thought she did a good job? That was a horrible presentation.

I know. I just didn't have the heart to tell her my true feelings about her presentation.

But, yeah, I agree with you. It was really bad and she's oblivious. She doesn't even know that she screwed up.

> Wow. That's just ridiculous.

  • have the [no] heart to do … 할 용기가 있다 [없다],  oblivious əˈblɪviəs 의식하지 못하는

  • screw up 망치다[엉망으로 만들다] (=mess up) (→관련 명사는 screw-up)  ridiculous rɪˈdɪkjələs 웃기는, 말도 안 되는, 터무니없는 (=absurd, ludicrous)
