• 일반적인 사실

“이렇게 날씨가 더울 때는 강아지를 밤에 산책 시키는 게 좋아요.”

“When the weather is this hot, it’s better to walk your dog at night.”

 

• 가능한 미래

“이번 주 내내 이렇게 더우면 진짜 힘든 한 주가 되겠는데.”

“If it’s hot like this for the rest of the week, it’s going to be a really tough week.”

    throughout this entire week

 

• 현재 사실에 대한 가정

 

A: 날씨가 어느 정도 이상 더우면 휴일을 주는 제도가 있었으면 좋겠다.

“I wish there were a policy where we all get a day off when the weather is hot past a certain point.”

 

B: 그랬으면 진짜 좋겠다.

“(If that were true,) that would be awesome.”

"If they / we had something like that would be awesome"

 

• 과거의 사실에 대한 가정이 ‘현재’에 줬을 변화

 

“에어컨을 진작에 고쳤으면 지금 이렇게 고생할 필요 없었을 테고, 사람들도 불평을 안 했겠죠.”

“If you had fixed the air-conditioner earlier (sooner), we wouldn’t need to go through this now and people wouldn’t be complaining (about it).”

• go through 겪다.

 

• 과거의 사실에 대한 가정이 ‘과거’에 줬을 변화

 

“에어컨에 문제가 있었다는 걸 알았으면 당연히 진작에 고쳤겠죠.”

If we had known there was a problem with the air-conditioner, of course we would've fixed it earlier.

I would've helped you.

I could've helped you.
