이번 연습가이드의 훈련항목: - How did it go?  - Did you hear from ~? - "work on _ [ something ]" - "What happened?" - "thought ~ would've + by now"

- 걱정/우려를 표현하는 기본 표현 몇 가지

 

A:

어떻게 됐어? 학교에서는 연락왔어?

How did it go?

• How is it going?

Did you hear ( anything ) from the school ( yet )?

• Have you heard from~?

 

B:

아니, 사실은 지원서를 아직 작성중이야.

No, actually I'm still working on my (the) application.

• work on / put together something ~ 어떤것을 완료하기 위해서 시간과 노력을 드리는것 ~

• 작성중 - write 는 사용범위가 좁다.

 

A:

어떻게 된거야? 벌써 제출했을 줄 알았는데.

Why? What happened?, I thought you would've already  submitted it by now.

• ~ 할줄알았어 - I thought

• ~ 했을 줄 알았어 -  I thought you would

• ~ 했을거라고 생각했어.- Would have pp

• by now 지금쯤이면

• I thought I would've gotten / become really good at it by now.

• I thought it would've been finished / ended by now

• I thought you would've quit your job by now.

• I thought he would've gotten married by now.

 

B:

오타가 있을까봐 밤새 검토를 했어.

I was afraid/worried (that) there might be some typos, so I was up (spent) all night double-checking it.

• be afraid / worried + might ~ . ~ 했을까봐 걱정하다.

• typos  ˈtaɪpəʊ   오타

• be up all night + ing . 밤새 ~ 하다.

 

부주의해 보이면 안되잖아.

I don't want to look ( seem ) careless.

 

책임감이 부족하다는 인상을 주고 싶지 않아.

I don't want them to think that I lack responsibility.

• I don't want them + to think ~ .  ~인상을 주고싶지 않다 / ~ 그들이 생각하는것을 원하지 않는다

• impress  깊은 인상을 주다  impression 인상  impressive 인상적인

 

오타를 보고 지원서를 끝까지 다 읽지도 않으면 어떻게?

What if they find a typo and don't even read through the entire application?
