Recently, scientists in Australia made an interesting discovery.

They found a fossil in a rock.

The fossil was 25 million years old.

It belonged to a new kind of marsupial lion.

Marsupial lions lived for millions of years.

They went extinct 35,000 years ago.

They looked similar to lions.

But the two animals were not related.

Actually, marsupial lions were a kind of marsupial.

They had pouches, like kangaroos or koalas.

The new marsupial lion was small.

It was the size of a domestic cat.

But the creature was fierce.

It had sharp teeth and claws.
