Hey guys! Today's English expression is "shoot down."

"Shoot down" means to deny or reject something.

It's usually used when an idea, proposal, or suggestion is denied or rejected.

Now listen to a dialogue between two colleagues talking about a business pitch.

Listen closely for the expression "shoot down."

 

How did the business pitch go?

> Well, the first pitch was a disaster. They shot it down immediately.

How about the second?

> Well, they asked me to come back with some more details, but I don't think they liked the pitch that much.

At least they didn't shoot it down!

> Yeah, that's a good point. Hopefully they'll accept the pitch.
